What It Is
KUNI Summitとは
KUNI Summit is an annual pilgrimage gathering held in Japan. For five to seven days, a group of forty to eighty participants walk ancient pilgrimage routes together — primarily in Kumano, Koyasan, and surrounding sacred landscapes.
KUNI Summitは、日本で毎年開催される巡礼の集いです。5日から7日間、40名から80名の参加者が共に古の巡礼路を歩きます。主に熊野、高野山、そして周辺の聖地を巡ります。
This is not a retreat, conference, or workshop. There are no lectures, agendas, or facilitated sessions. The path itself is the teacher. Participants walk, keep silence, share meals, and offer themselves to the rhythm of the land.
これはリトリートでも、カンファレンスでも、ワークショップでもありません。講義も、アジェンダも、ファシリテーションもありません。道そのものが師となります。参加者は歩き、沈黙を守り、食事を共にし、土地のリズムに身を委ねます。
Who Comes

Each year brings a mix of generations — typically young people in their twenties alongside elders and established leaders from diverse fields and geographies. Participants have come from over thirty countries.
毎年、世代を超えた参加者が集います。20代の若者から、様々な分野や地域で活躍する年長者やリーダーまで。これまで30カ国以上から参加者が訪れています。
What unites them is not profession or belief, but a shared sense that something fundamental is being remembered — and a willingness to walk toward it.
参加者を結びつけるのは、職業や信条ではなく、何か根源的なものが思い出されつつあるという共有された感覚と、それに向かって歩む意志です。

When does it take place?
開催時期は？
Usually in early December. The 2026 dates will be announced when applications open.
例年12月初旬に開催されます。2026年の日程は、募集開始時に発表されます。
How physically demanding is it?
体力的な負担は？
Participants walk several hours each day on mountain paths, sometimes in cold or wet weather. A reasonable level of fitness is needed, though the pace is unhurried. This is pilgrimage, not trekking.
毎日数時間、山道を歩きます。寒さや雨の中を歩くこともあります。ある程度の体力は必要ですが、急ぐことはありません。これはトレッキングではなく、巡礼です。
What does it cost?
費用は？
Participation is offered on a gift basis. There is no fixed fee. Those who are able are invited to contribute; those who cannot are equally welcome. Travel to Japan is the participant's responsibility.
参加は贈与の精神に基づいています。固定の参加費はありません。可能な方には寄付をお願いしていますが、できない方も同様に歓迎されます。日本までの渡航費は各自のご負担となります。
How are participants selected?
選考方法は？
When applications open, there is a simple form and sometimes a conversation. Selection is based on alignment rather than achievement — a sense that this path and this person belong to each other at this time.
募集期間中に簡単なフォームへの記入と、場合により対話があります。選考は実績ではなく、整合性に基づきます。この道とこの人が、この時に互いに属しているという感覚を大切にしています。
What language is used?
使用言語は？
English is the common language, though Japanese is spoken by some participants and local elders. Much of the pilgrimage unfolds in silence.
共通言語は英語ですが、参加者や地元の長老の中には日本語を話す方もいます。巡礼の多くの時間は沈黙の中で過ごされます。

KUNI Summit is stewarded by KUNI, a pilgrimage-based organization exploring how field-based infrastructures — land, repetition, silence, offering — can restore orientation before systems, scale, or ideology take hold.
KUNI Summitは、KUNIによって運営されています。KUNIは、土地・反復・沈黙・奉納といった場に根ざしたインフラが、制度や規模やイデオロギーに先立って、いかに方向性を回復しうるかを探求する巡礼に基づく組織です。
There is no founder at the center. Responsibility is distributed among stewards — some visible, many not — who tend conditions rather than direct outcomes.
中心に創設者はいません。責任は世話人たちの間に分散されています。目に見える人もいれば、そうでない人も多くいます。彼らは結果を導くのではなく、条件を整えています。
